Job Summary: The Marketing Coordinator II oversees marketing, promotion, and publicity functions for a college, division, or the University. Creates and implements marketing strategies using advertising, media, direct mail, etc. Coordinates production of materials specified in marketing plans and calendars. Consults with product and/or program development.
Additional Department Summary: Leads communications and marketing work for the Alabama Entrepreneurship Institute (AEI) and The EDGE, Tuscaloosa's premier incubator and accelerator. AEI is part of The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business and serves the entire UA community.
Supports the Culverhouse College of Business Office of Marketing and Communications. Contributes to college-wide marketing campaign execution and content development for the College and its associated units, functioning as an integrated member of the broader Culverhouse marketing ecosystem while maintaining AEI and The EDGE as the primary area of responsibility.
Helps to lead the development and ensure the successful ongoing delivery of strategic marketing actions that include digital advertising, organic and paid social media campaigns, website content, newsletters, press releases, and other communications materials. Designs or oversees the production of marketing materials in accordance with UA and Culverhouse brand guidelines.
Originates media campaigns tied to AEI programs and events. Supports the AEI Executive Director with communications needs. Supports the rollout of new initiatives, including membership programs, fundraising campaigns, and other high-level AEI priorities. Supports AEI leadership and colleagues with communications to AEI and EDGE advisory boards, partnering organizations, EDGE tenants, and other groups.
Develops and executes marketing strategies to promote AEI and EDGE events, including social media promotion, email communications, digital and print collateral, and post-event publicity. Coordinates with AEI program staff and Culverhouse marketing and communications teams to ensure event marketing is timely, on-brand, and reaches the right audiences. Must be available to work occasional weekends and evenings in support of events.
Helps supervise student employees and interns who support departmental communications, marketing, and outreach efforts, including task assignment and marketing relation performance oversight.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of marketing, public relations, communications, or advertising experience; OR master's degree and some marketing, public relations, communications, or advertising experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to produce and manage a high volume of marketing content across multiple channels and audiences. Strong marketing strategy competency. Ability to develop and execute campaigns across digital, social, and print platforms. Ability to work effectively within a dual reporting structure and collaborate across teams. Strong interpersonal skills and professional judgment. Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or Canva. Ability to produce polished presentations and branded marketing materials in accordance with UA and Culverhouse guidelines. Familiarity with content management systems, particularly WordPress or similar platforms.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or advertising and five (5) years of related experience; OR master's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or advertising and three (3) years related experience. Experience starting up and/or running a marketing department for an organization. Experience with social media management tools, email marketing platforms, and digital advertising. Experience with project management tools such as Basecamp, Asana, or similar platforms.
