Position Summary
The Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science at the Culverhouse College of Business, University of Alabama, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in Operations Management with a start date of August 16, 2027. Primary duties include teaching undergraduate, master's, doctoral, and executive courses in operations management and supply chain management; conducting research that results in published articles in top peer-reviewed operations management journals; supervising doctoral students; and performing service as assigned by the department, college, and university.


Detailed Position Information
The Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science at the Culverhouse College of Business, University of Alabama, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in Operations Management with a start date of August 16, 2027. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should be advanced in rank (e.g., two to three years in rank at another institution), with a research record that indicates a clear path to promotion. The appointment may be tenure-track or tenured, and an appointment with tenure is possible for candidates whose record warrants it, subject to review by the department, college, and university promotion and tenure committees.

The successful candidate will provide intellectual leadership in operations management through a sustained program of high-impact research, contribute to the department's teaching mission across undergraduate and graduate programs, supervise and mentor doctoral students, and provide service at a level appropriate to rank.

The position offers opportunities to teach courses across the department's operations management curriculum, including undergraduate core courses, supply chain electives, MBA and MS courses, doctoral seminars, and executive education programs. Teaching assignments will be determined based on pro-gram needs and the candidate's expertise.

The department seeks candidates with an established record of high-quality scholarly research and a strong trajectory of future research. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to:
• Supply chain management and logistics
• Analytics, artificial intelligence, and optimization for operations
• Service, healthcare, and public-sector operations

Candidates with expertise in other areas of operations management are also encouraged to apply. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching.


Minimum Qualifications
1. A doctoral degree in operations management, operations research, industrial engineering, supply chain management, management science, or a closely related field;
2. An established record of publication in top operations management journals, commensurate with appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or advanced Assistant Professor;
3. Evidence of excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching;
4. A record of, or demonstrated commitment to, service supporting the operations of the department, college, and university.


Preferred Qualifications
1. A record of external research funding or demonstrated potential to obtain external research funding; 2. Experience supervising and mentoring doctoral students; and 3. Experience teaching graduate, doctoral, executive, or online/hybrid courses.
