Job Summary: The Associate Director of the Law Library Collection Services oversees day-to-day collection maintenance and development for the Law Library. Serves as a member of the law library administrative team. Establishes and maintains vendor relations. Supervises, leads, and trains staff members and indirectly supervises student employees that support collections. Monitors, plans, and coordinates the shelving, shifting, and organizing of library collections. Makes retention, binding, de-selection, and withdrawal recommendations. Leads inventory efforts, including lost and missing items. Designs, implements, and evaluates projects designed to enhance the library’s collections and their usage. Coordinates collection assessment and development by analyzing institutional data, usage statistics, interlibrary loan data, and other metrics. Analyzes and predicts future expenditures while tracking and reporting actual expenditures.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in library science and four (4) years of related experience working in a law library, law office, or academic library setting.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work in a team-based setting where consultation, flexibility, collaboration, cooperation, and resilience are essential. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated project management skills and/or formal training in project management or workflow optimization/evaluation. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Ability to manage projects and balance competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications: Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school. Collection maintenance, budget management, and/or collection development/acquisitions experience. Supervisory experience.
