Eligibility: All Fixed-Term, Permanent or continuing appointment UNICEF staff members currently working in UNICEF worldwide.

Background:

This stretch assignment is to fill the gap while the Chief of Partnerships is temporarily absent. 

Considering the comprehensive workplan and the emergency context, the stretch assignment will ensure there is no gap in the ongoing partnerships work, as well as other key activities as per the partnership and resource mobilisation strategy. Mali is also facing multiple challenges due to the deteriorating humanitarian situation.

Duration
This stretch assignment will be for a period of six (3) months.

Key expected results

  • Management and oversight of the Partnerships team staff and work plan. 

  • Advice provided to senior management on partnerships engagement and strategy. 

  • Identification of resource mobilisation opportunities, particularly for large scale and flexible humanitarian contributions (given the declining funding for the Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC) Appeal). 

  • Timely submission of quality donor proposals, ensuring the appropriate colleagues are consulted within the established timeline 

  • Coordination and oversight of high-level meetings, such as the quarterly humanitarian round tables. 

  • Advise colleagues on contribution management tasks and oversee the Partnerships team to ensure the quality and accuracy of requests submitted to donors. 

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies

  • Education :  An advanced university degree is required in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, communications, international development, or another relevant technical field. 
  • Experience:  A minimum of eight years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: public affairs, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, or other relevant area.
  • Language: Fluency in English and French are required.

Funding arrangement

  • Mali CO will pay for economy class travel, terminal expenses and 50% DSA during the assignment. 

  • The staff member will continue to receive his/her salary from the releasing office during deployment. 

  • Interested staff members should seek agreement from their supervisor and Representative and then submit their application within the deadline.
