The Individual Giving section in the Division of Private Fundraising Partnership (PFP) based in Geneva is a lead participant in the Supporter Engagement Strategy (SES), which aims to increase the global acquisition and engagement of UNICEF’s diverse supporter base, including donors, advocates, and volunteers. A key part of the strategy is to replace incumbent CRM systems currently in place in 21 country offices with Salesforce-based technology, including current implementation projects in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, and Peru.

For every child, a Champion

This role will support the ongoing adoption and business optimization of UNICEF’s Supporter Engagement Strategy (SES). With implementation completed, the Fundraising Specialist will focus on maximizing the business value of SES by driving market readiness, managing key initiatives, fostering adoption, and embedding supporter-centric practices across teams and geographies – all vital to fundraising. The role bridges PFP, ICT Division, country and regional offices, and UNICEF National Committees to enhance revenue growth, audience engagement, and operational efficiency.

How can you make a difference? 

1. Strategic Business Enablement

  • Support markets in the post-implementation phase by identifying opportunities for optimization and scaling of SES capabilities.
  • Build customized strategic plans for country teams to drive adoption and integration of supporter engagement tools (e.g., Salesforce, Marketing Cloud) to improve fundraising outcomes.
  • Develop and manage a knowledge bank including case studies, toolkits, and guides to accelerate business transformation and continuous learning in support of fundraising.
  • Partner with ICTD, regional offices, and markets to prioritize features, improvements, and best practices that drive measurable uplift in supporter experience and fundraising KPIs.

2. Market support

  • Ongoing development and maintenance of the centralized SES cost model
  • Collaboration with ICTD to ensure that contracts with vendors, 3rd party solutions and services are maintained
  • Ongoing budget oversight

3. Project Management & Delivery Oversight

  • Plan, manage, and deliver strategic SES-related initiatives, ensuring alignment with IG goals and market needs.
  • Define project scopes, timelines, milestones, and success criteria in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Track and report on progress, risks, and dependencies, escalating issues as needed.
  • Coordinate across HQ, regional offices, markets, and vendors to keep initiatives on track.
  • Facilitate structured post-project reviews and continuous improvement loops.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership

  • Cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with global, regional, and country-level stakeholders.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement campaigns to reinforce the value of SES for fundraising and sustain buy-in post-implementation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to country teams, supporting the transition to user-centric engagement models.
  • Facilitate leadership visibility and alignment through regular updates, dashboards, and success stories.

5. Capacity Building & Knowledge Sharing

  • Design and deliver global training sessions, webinars, and regional workshops to empower markets in leveraging SES tools for fundraising effectively.
  • Coordinate global events and learning sessions to promote cross-country collaboration and replication of success linked to fundraising.
  • Monitor adoption metrics, feedback, and learning needs to continuously evolve the SES enablement strategy.

6. Communication & Visibility

  • Develop compelling communication materials to showcase the impact of SES on supporter engagement and income generation.
  • Partner with internal communications to amplify stories of market success and innovations.
  • Ensure alignment between SES communications and broader fundraising strategy and organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with the CRM success specialists to monitor user adoption and engagement with Salesforce, providing ongoing support and reinforcement to ensure effective utilization of the system.

7. Data-Driven Insights & Optimization

  • Use data and performance analytics to track adoption, identify business impact, and inform future enhancements to support fundraising.
  • Promote testing (A/B, behavioral economics) and marketing optimization techniques to strengthen supporter journeys.
  • Maintain an inventory of market tools and technologies that support continuous improvement.

  •  Project plans, timelines, and status reports for SES strategic initiatives.
  • Global and market-specific business enablement plans and improvement roadmaps, in coordination with success specialists.
  • Stakeholder engagement strategy and execution plan with KPIs around fundraising.
  • Global training framework, onboarding materials and rollout schedule.
  • Global business uplift plans and support packages.
  • Quarterly success reports and knowledge-sharing resources.
  • Communication toolkits for internal use and market enablement.
  • Updated cost-benefit models and solution briefs for country offices.

To qualify as a Champion for every child, you will have…

Education:

  • An advanced university degree in Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, International Relations, or the equivalent is required.
  • Alternatively, a first-level University Degree in a relevant field combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in fundraising, particularly in global supporter engagement, fundraising strategy, CRM adoption, or donor experience design, is required.
  • Experience in Salesforce (Sales Cloud / Marketing Cloud), preferably in a response-driven, multi-channel, cross-platform environment, is required.
  • Experience working in global organizations with projects to enable fundraising across multiple markets with different business challenges is required.
  • Experience in marketing or advertising agencies is an asset.
  • Experience working across HQ, regional offices, and in-country teams, ideally in a UN or international NGO settings is an asset.
  • Ability to lead stakeholder engagement, change management, and large-scale training programs across diverse markets in a fundraising context.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects, with multiple stakeholders and moving deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving orientation.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is an asset.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian) is an asset.
