For every child, a Champion
The Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships (PSFP) section within UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP) works with National Committees and country offices worldwide to mobilize resources, influence and build global brand recognition for UNICEF’s mission while maximizing income and continued growth.
The purpose of the Global Philanthropy (GP) team is to drive income growth from private philanthropists (UHNWI/HNWI) and family foundations. The team leads the development of these new opportunities and supports markets to grow these income streams as well as develop relationships at a global level with high-value individual donors, and family foundations through experiential offers of engagement.
How can you make a difference?
As a lead specialist in the region, adapt and implement Global Philanthropy’s strategy to engage new and existing donors and secure larger and multi-year gifts from U/HNWIs in South Korea and Hong Kong. Additionally, the incumbent will provide expert knowledge and guidance, and serve as a resource to fundraising teams to position UNICEF as the philanthropic partner of choice (see below):
Strategy and Thought-Partnership:
- Provide expert advice and guidance on setting and aligning fundraising strategies to secure income from private philanthropists in the APAC region.
- Manage guidance and support the strategic development of a strong and sustainable Major Donor and individual cultivation and stewardship strategies for UHNWI donors within each APAC National Committee (Korea, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia and Japan).
- Support National Committee leadership and philanthropy fundraising team members, bridging PFP’s assets, resources and expertise.
- Seek and support opportunities to collaborate with other HV fundraising teams, especially in National Committee markets where diversifying income is critical.
Engagement and Accompaniment:
- Engage prospective U/HNWI and foundation partners able to give gifts (USD$1million+) with a focus on building new relationships to drive income in markets.
- Work with National Committee board members, senior leadership, and team members to build personalized relationships, leverage networks, and grow support for UNICEF programs.
- Leverage Global Philanthropy Offers such as the Billionaires Strategy, International Council, Next Gen Principals, Family Philanthropy, Global Mid-Level Offer, and Philanthropy Compass to advance the cultivation and stewardship of existing major donors and new prospects.
- Building on GP’s Youth Engagement work, create and implement approaches for engagement of youth members of UIC and UHNWIs as entry points for UNW families in Asia.
- Partner with APAC Philanthropy team colleagues to design and implement special events to cultivate and steward UHNWI and family foundation prospects and donors.
- Engage intermediaries, advisors and influencers to help enable introductions and relationships with U/HNWIs.
Capacity Building and Prospecting:
- Advise and guide APAC National Committee colleagues to raise ambition and income goals in the region leveraging GP’s resources and regional best practices.
- Design, implement and follow-through on capacity building for APAC colleagues leveraging opportunities including the Major Donor Workshop, Regional Philanthropy Workshops, and bespoke expertise and team-building workshops.
- Support the identification, and wealth intelligence capacity for U/HNWI, families and family foundations to support UNICEF at the USD$1million+ level
- Identify and build of key philanthropists and philanthropic advisors who will be able to further UNICEF’s private sector fundraising efforts.
Regional Partnership Building:
- Attend and support UNICEF’s senior colleague and GWAs at regional convenings such as the AVPN Global Conference, PAS Summit, Milken Institute Asia Summit to develop and raise awareness of UNICEF’s work and mission.
- Leverage PFP’s market insights and regional trends to ensure that recommendations are relevant and maximized in each market.
- Ensure that strategies align and are fit for the future to maximize sustained growth while seeking opportunities to further build UNICEF’s network in the APAC region.
- Help drive UNICEF’s brand awareness and stakeholder understanding of the opportunities for philanthropists to partner with UNICEF.
DELIVERABLES:
- Concrete Major Donor national strategies in place for each APAC National Committee Market adapted from the Global Philanthropy strategy for 2026-2029.
- Robust engagement activities leveraging Global Philanthropy’s experiential offers, including cultivation and solicitation of new International Council members from the APAC region.
- Implementation of Family Philanthropy offer and Youth Engagement offers with families in the APAC region.
- Dynamic and working portfolios with wealth intelligence data on UHNWI prospects and donors for each market.
- Accompaniment of National Committee leadership to major donor and prospect meetings.
- Events and tangible follow-up and results in each market to drive income from UNHWI partners.
- Workshops and training and development of Major Donor Fundraising skills in the APAC region resulting in upskilling of expertise for National Committee Philanthropy colleagues.

Education:
- An Advanced university degree in International Relations, Social Sciences, Marketing, Communications, Business, or Non-profit Management, or another relevant field is required.
- Alternatively, a first-level university degree in a relevant field combined with two additional years of qualifying professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in fundraising is required.
- Experience working in major donor fundraising and proven track record in cultivating and securing high-value gifts (USD$1million+).
- Familiarity and experience in working with UHNWIs and foundations within South Korea, Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and/or Japan.
- Understanding of the APAC region’s fundraising landscape and philanthropic trends.
- Experience and ability as an effective leader who can communicate in a compelling and persuasive way.
- Track record of working independently, problem-solving, and meeting tight deadlines.
- Experience working in a global team or international organization is desired.
- Candidates with their own network of key influencers in the Asia Pacific region will be prioritized.
- Knowledge of the UN system, and familiarity with UNICEF programme activities are an asset.
- Experience in organizing and managing large-scale Major Donor Events is an asset.
- Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is an asset.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Korean is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an asset.
