How can you make a difference?
The Senior Data Analyst Associate will contribute to several strategic data initiatives aimed at enhancing the organization’s data models and overall business data architecture. Key areas of focus include the development and refinement of forecasting models and supporting their integration into planning processes; designing data analytics solutions to inform operational and strategic planning; and establishing methodologies that promote greater standardization, consistency, and maturity in the organization’s data practices.
The incumbent will play a pivotal role in advancing data-driven decision-making across the organization. This position is responsible for understanding complex business needs, translating them into clear data requirements, identifying and accessing appropriate data sources, designing and conducting insightful analyses, and effectively presenting actionable insights to stakeholders.
By actively participating in these initiatives, the Senior Data Analyst Associate will help elevate the organization’s data capabilities and ensure the alignment of data strategies with broader organizational goals.
Summary of key functions/accountabilities:
Data analytics and data communication
- Design and execute statistical analyses and modeling techniques, including developing methodologies, conducting preliminary statistical tests, and preparing business specifications for technical implementation, to support forecasting, organizational planning, and decision-making
- Organize and transform data from different sources into meaningful insights
- Design, build, and maintain data models and interactive dashboards tailored to stakeholder needs
- Contribute to ad-hoc data requests and help develop effective data-driven solutions
Data management
- Lead initiatives to ensure data is structured and easily interpretable by diverse users across the organization
- Check and improve data quality
- Develop and document data methodologies to ensure transparency and reproducibility
- Lead efforts to standardize data practices and foster a culture of evidence-based decision-making across the organization
Stakeholder engagement
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to refine and clarify data needs and translate business objectives into clear, actionable data requirements
- Work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to bridge functional and technical requirements
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
- Completion of secondary education (i.e. high school diploma) is required.
- University Degree in a relevant field (e.g., statistics, data science, economics, computer science, mathematics, survey methodology etc.) is desirable.
- 7 years of relevant hands-on work experience in various roles.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required for candidates holding bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the above fields. A relevant master’s degree may replace an additional 2 years.
- Experience both in designing and implementing data models and statistical analyses.
- Proven expertise in quantitative analytical methods.
- Skilled in Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, and similar analytical features.
- Experience with data tools (e.g., R or Python or SPSS similar).
- Skilled at translating data into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Skilled at balancing attention to detail with strategic, big-picture thinking.
- Very good communication skills with a proactive and open-minded approach.
- Deep curiosity about what data can reveal.
- Traits of professional skepticism.
- Fluency in English.
It is desirable that you have…
- Experience in using Power BI for designing and building interactive dashboards.
- Experience with SQL for data extraction and analysis.
- Experience working within an SAP environment, with familiarity in navigating SAP data structures.
- Certifications in data analysis, statistics, data management, business intelligence, visualization or similar.
- Work experience in Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC)/Global Business Services (GBS) context.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
