For every child, a digital future

The 2022-2025 Strategic Plan identifies Digital Transformation as a change strategy to the achievement of results for children in the upcoming quadrennium. The Information Communication Technology Division (ICTD) has established a foundational digital maturity for UNICEF in the 2018-2021 period that now serves as a launching pad for this change strategy. The primary mission of ICTD in the next quadrennium will be to continue scaling up the digital maturity of the organization and to lead it on the next steps of a transformative journey to accelerate progress toward the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision and guidance of the Human Resources Officer, the Human Resources Associate will support the ICTD HR team with onboarding, protocol and admin activities for new hires and relocating staff from Supply Division, Private Fundraising and Partnerships and Division of Global Communication & Advocacy.

The HR Associate will work in close collaboration with the Global Shared Services Center and HR peers in Supply Division, Private Fundraising and Partnerships and Division of Global Communication & Advocacy.

The HR Associate applies a client-oriented approach to provide overall HR and operations administrative support coordinate and support key HR areas, including HR administration, monitoring, and coordinating onboarding logistics of new staff, in line with HR best practice and in compliance with UNICEF HR rules and regulations.

This Temporary Appointment reports to the Human Resources Officer, P-2 and is based in UNICEF’s Digital Core, Valencia, Spain.

  To qualify as a champion for every child you will have… 

  • Minimum requirements 
        1. Education: Secondary Education in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, Social Sciences and any other related fields. A Bachelor’s level degree from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may replace three years of related work experience.
        2. Work Experience: A minimum of six years of progressively responsible work experience in human resources, operations or administration is required.
        3. Skills: HR Administration, Facilitating documentation, Logistics coordination, Knowledge of HR SharePoint maintenance, Client-orientation, Inter-personal and communication skills, Commitment and drive for results, Proactivity and self-starter attitude.
        4. Desirables:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 • Language: Fluency in Spanish an advantage. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian) is an asset.                                                                                             • HR data analysis and reporting.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergencies.                                                               

Candidates must be nationals of EU countries or in possession of a valid work permit. Please note that General Service (GS) staff are locally recruited staff and candidates are personally responsible for any travel and accommodation arrangements.

Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.

Visa residence requirements: i.e. UNICEF shall not facilitate the issuance of a visa and working authorization for candidates under consideration for positions at the national officer and general service category.
