UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary provides services to UNICEF offices globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology.

How can you make a difference?
The Quality Assurance Assistant is responsible for monitoring the quality of administrative and other processes within the GSSC to ensure efficient service delivery, continuous quality improvement and compliance with UNICEF policies, procedures and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Under the close supervision and guidance of the Business Analyst (QA team lead) the incumbent will conduct quality checks and generate reports on data and process quality and will follow up on irregular and suspicious transactions.
This is a Temporary Appointment until 31 December 2025. This vacancy announcement is open to all internal audiences including TA staff members. Eligible FT staff members will be prioritized if assessed suitable.
Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:
Compliance
- Perform quality reviews on selected services covering HR, Payroll and Offboarding, identifying risks and control gaps, and areas of non-compliance with established SOPs as well as UNICEF Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure timely preparation and visibility of monthly analytical and compliance reports and provide recommendations on identified issues.
- Support the timely resolution of identified issues in coordination with relevant stream contacts.
- Ensure that working papers for compliance assignments are properly maintained and archived for future reference.
- Assist in evaluating process and system improvements, providing input from internal control and quality perspective.
Risk Management
- Facilitate discussion with work stream contacts regarding report results and follow-up actions required.
- Work closely with stakeholders, keeping them informed of findings and follow-up actions required.
- Provide recommendations for strengthened controls that are deemed necessary from transactional reviews.
- Support risk assessment and fraud prevention review, to determine areas for close monitoring.
- Support fraud risk awareness through advisory and training methods.
Quality Assurance Initiatives
- Perform any other ad hoc tasks that may be assigned and participate in selected QA projects under the supervision of the project leads.

Minimum requirements:
- Completed secondary education (i.e. high school diploma).
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant hands-on work experience in compliance, auditing, quality assurance, risk analysis or related field.
- A completed first level university degree (i.e. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may replace three years of work experience and an advanced university degree (i.e. Master’s degree or equivalent) may replace an additional two years.
- Strong analytical, data extraction, data cleaning and reporting skills.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Very good communication skills with a proactive and open-minded approach.
Desirable:
- Experience in using data analytics techniques and tools.
- Initiative, proactivity and willingness to learn.
