How can you make a difference??
- Coordinate research and evidence generation for the regional EiE/Climate programme
- Provide technical expertise for the design and implementation of evidence generation initiatives, including on:
- the impacts of climate change on education, including research on the economic cost of Loss & Damage (July – November 2025) and monitoring of schooling disruption due to climate in ESAR (ongoing)
- improving learning in crisis-affected contexts
- Manage relevant institutional contracts and support quality assurance processes, including the completion of an ongoing research study on best practices for improving foundational learning at scale
- Support any other work around data generation, data analysis, statistics, and indicators and develop resources and presentations using data and other key evidence sources.
- Knowledge management and capacity building
- Facilitate knowledge exchange between countries, including on best practices for integrating climate resilience and MHPSS within education programming, on learning in EiE contexts and on other priorities of the portfolio
- Support the delivery of cross-sectoral engagements on evidence and advocacy, in particular collaboration on MHPSS, School Health and Nutrition and with other sectors.
- Document and disseminate key regional evidence for integrating climate resilience and MHPSS within education programming
- Support programme planning and monitoring the delivery of results
- Support annual reporting and planning to a key regional donor (Sept - Nov 2025), and overall management for the regional EiE/Climate programme
- Support end-year reporting, including providing reporting support to COs
- Consolidate and leverage programme evidence and results for partner and donor engagement
- Provide technical, operational and partnership support to advance programme implementation
- Coordinate and provide technical support to UNICEF’s regional engagement in the LEAD-ESD capacity building programme
- Support the expansion of regional partnerships to advance climate resilience within education, including UNESCO, UNEP and others
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Minimum requirements:
- Education: Advanced university degree in one of the following fields: education, social sciences, economics, international relations, or other related technical disciplines.
- Work Experience: At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme planning, management and research in education is required.
- Developing country work experience is required; experience in the ESA region is an asset.
- Familiarity with Education in Emergencies, Climate and MHPSS in ESAR is required.
- Desirables
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including data collection and data analysis methodologies, are highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team and to forge and manage partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for a variety of audiences.
- Language Proficiency [ III ]
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second UN and/or local working language of the duty station is an asset.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF.
