How can you make a difference? 

Purpose of the job:

The Information Management Specialist position is expected to build the capacity of partners in health in evidence-based planning, improved program monitoring for enhanced quality assurance and accountability, and enhanced monitoring of changes in bottlenecks affecting the supply, demand, coverage and quality of key health programs, with particular focus on maternal, newborn and child health including immunization.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  1. Identifying the changes in bottlenecks affecting the supply, demand, coverage and quality of key health programmes with particular focus on maternal, newborn and child health including immunization.
  2. Ensuring health related information needs for reporting and monitoring sector performance are assessed and systems for information collation and sharing developed and operationalized.
  3. Ensuring health-related assessments, research, studies, and evaluation process and outputs are of high quality.
  4. Supporting National staff within UNICEF and de facto MoPH to process HMIS data for decision-making, especially quarterly RMNCH Scorecards.

Minimum requirements:

Education: 

  • An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Demography, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, or other social sciences.
  • A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • Certification/Diploma in digital health planning and implementation would be an asset.

Work Experience: 

  • A minimum of 5 years of information management experience is required.
  • Professional work experience in a range of international public health programme areas, including information management, or immunization or maternal and newborn health, is required.

Language Requirements: 

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset.

Desirables:

  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts
  • Strong Information technology skills and knowledge/awareness of digital health applications and systems set up is desirable.
  • Knowledge and skills of Excel and Power-BI for data analysis
  • Experience of donor reporting for World Bank/ADB/GAVI funded projects.
  • Experience of planning and implementation of an enterprise digital health system or implementation of at least one digital health application.
  • Knowledge/awareness of digital health applications and digital health systems set up is desirable.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
