UNICEF Zimbabwe seeks to hire a passionate and dedicated Communications Specialist for their Communications team.The Communications Specialist reports to the Chief Partnerships,Advocacy,Communication (P4 Level) for guidance and general supervision.
Under the guidance of the Chief Partnerships,Advocacy,Communication,the Communication Specialist is accountable for developing, managing, coordinating, networking, implementing and monitoring a communication strategy and associated products and activities on on-going basis with public and private audiences, with the objective of promoting visibility, awareness, understanding, support and respect for children’s and women’s rights, and support for UNICEF's mission, priorities, and programmes in the Zimbabwe Country Office, as well as at the global level and within the UN Country Team.

Minimum requirements:
Education:
- Advanced university degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, with demonstrated expertise across traditional media (print and broadcast), as well as digital and social media platforms.
- •Recognized professional in the field of communications, with a proven track record in developing effective strategies and delivering innovative, high-impact campaigns that generate attention and drive engagement.
- Strong understanding of the advocacy landscape, including what works to influence public opinion, mobilize stakeholders, and support policy change. Experience in crafting messages and narratives that resonate with diverse audiences is essential.
- Excellent networking skills and the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, influencers, media, and communication partners to advance UNICEF’s mission.
- Deep knowledge of both traditional and digital media ecosystems, and the ability to leverage them creatively and strategically to support UNICEF’s communication and advocacy goals.
- Experience in developing communication baselines, and in monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on communication and advocacy outcomes, using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Previous experience with UNICEF, the UN system, or international NGOs in a similar role is highly desirable.
- Additional experience in marketing, branding, or behavior change communication would be a strong asset.
Language Requirements: Fluency in both written and spoken English is essential.
