Purpose of the job:
The Senior Programme Associate is responsible for support in leading and coordinating programme support functions across the project cycle, specialized in planning, budgeting, CSO partnership management, monitoring, reporting, and closing‑out financial commitments. The role ensures that programme activities are technically robust, financially sound, and fully compliant with UNICEF policies and donor agreements. The incumbent of this position contributes to informed decisions by presenting synthesized data, flagging risks, and recommending corrective measures to achieve results aligning with programme goals.

Minimum requirements:
Education:
- Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the work of the organization.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of seven years of administrative or clerical work experience is required.
- A bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a relevant field may replace three years of related work experience. A master’s degree may replace an additional two years.
- As the recruiting office is located in a multi-hazard prone state, prior experience of working in emergency situation, handling multiple sectors/programs and working with external partners will be an added advantage
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
Desirables:
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

- This position is based in Patna, India.
- This position is open for all Indian Nationals and for internal candidates possessing a valid work permit for India.
- This VA is open to internal UNICEF staff only i.e. UNICEF staff holding permanent, continuing, and fixed-term appointments.
- The selected applicant will have an initial two (2) year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension, subject to satisfactory performance.
