UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary provides services to UNICEF offices globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology.

How can you make a difference? 

Under the overall supervision and guidance of the HR Officer, the intern will be responsible for contributing to the successful launch and implementation of the Recruitment Administrative Services (RAS) team in HR Administration Section.

This may involve

  • Project Support: Assist in the implementation of the RAS project including project planning, tracking deliverables, and reporting progress.
  • Data Management: Collect, organize, and analyze HR data to support decision-making processes for various HR initiatives (e.g. recruitment, onboarding, talent development).
  • Documentation: Prepare project documentation, including project plans, meeting minutes, presentations, and reports.
  • Process Improvement: Assist in identifying opportunities for streamlining HR processes and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct tests, quality spot checks to assess the accuracy of the system outcomes.
  • Training Support: Provide logistical and administrative support for HR training sessions and workshops.

General Administrative Support: Handle other HR-related tasks as needed, including assisting with communications, coordinating meetings, and preparing materials.

Minimum requirements:

The incumbent should: 

  • Be enrolled in a degree programme at the Bachelor or Masters level or recent graduate (within the last 2 years) preferably in the areas of Human Resources, Business Administration with HR Specialization, Recruitment Strategy, Talent Acquisition, HR & Technology, Quality Assurance, or other relevant fields
    • Degree program, knowledge or work experience related to global business services or global shared services centers is an advantage 
  • Fluency in English  
    • Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage 
  • Eligible applicants must be nationals of EU countries or be eligible to work in Hungary 

Required competencies 

  • Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Strong commitment and drive to achieve results for impact
  • Reliability in meeting deadlines and following procedures
  • Adaptability to changing priorities
  • Initiative in suggesting improvements or efficiencies
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills – able to work well in a team environment. Listens to and acknowledges others' perspectives and views 
  • Ability to work independently

Contract duration and terms

  • This contract is for a 3-month duration, a minimum of 3 days in the office, 2 days remote per week
  • The intern is expected to be in the office when needed for specific activities
  • The anticipated start date of this internship is September 2025.
  • This internship is paid with a stipend of net HUF 2360 / hour capped at net HUF 405,941 per month.
  • Individuals must fund their travel and living expenses
  • Individuals must have proof of medical insurance covering their time at the duty station
  • Individuals are personally responsible for obtaining any required visa or residence permit, covering the entire period of their internship
  • Interns may take up to 2.5 days per month off work for any reason, including for medical reasons. The stipend will be reduced for any absence beyond this quota

Government employees who are considered for a contract with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government positions before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
