The vacancy is created to fill multiple fixed-term GS-6 level Learning and Development Associate positions in the Global Learning Centre, UNICEF Global Shared Services Centre.

How can you make a difference? 

The Learning & Development Associate will work with Subject Matter Experts in the design and development of both online e-learning as well as face-to-face learning programmes using a variety of development tools. The position also calls for presenting curriculum both face-to-face at the GSSC facility and via the broadcast studio to UNICEF staff worldwide.

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify learning needs

  • Support the identification of learning needs within UNICEF in consultation with learning focal points and internal clients.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to understand the learning needs and to determine the best method for presenting learning opportunities

Development of learning programmes

  • Develop concept and design documents to address the identified learning needs.
  • Design and develop learning initiatives, including assessing costs, creating roadmaps, designing learning assets, creating content on UNICEF LMS, assuring quality, and monitoring progress.
  • Design structured Learning Paths focused on key UNICEF-specific thematic and functional areas. Design learning spaces and specific content on the UNICEF Learning Management System Agora.
  • Ensure that the learning assets are compliant with UNICEF guidelines for accessibility.

Use of the latest methods and technology to develop innovative learning outputs

  • Support the Learning and Development Specialist by carrying out background research on lessons learned for learning development and identification of best practices.
  • Research, report and develop expertise on best and cutting-edge technologies for learning development.
  • Design learning assets by using AI-powered authoring tools, including Articulate, Canva, and Vyond.

Deliver training as needed (using classroom and/or webinar modalities)

  • Work with administrative support to schedule the delivery of course content.
  • Deliver classroom and webinar training to UNICEF staff worldwide.
  • Deliver virtual instructor-led training modules from the GSSC Broadcast studio to UNICEF staff worldwide.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education

  • Completion of high school education is required.
  • University Degree is an asset; in either Instructional Design, Adult Education, Human Resources, Public/Business Administration or any other relevant field.

Work Experience

Requirements:

  • A minimum of six (6) years of progressively relevant professional experience in curriculum design, e-learning development required. A completed BA degree from an accredited institution qualifies as 3 years experience and will be counted towards the minimum work experience requirement. Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience is required for candidates holding bachelor’s degree in relevant fields. Master’s degree will be considered additional two years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with delivering training either online or face-to-face in the framework of staff capacity development activities.
  • Experience with creating complex Learning Paths for functional areas of an organization in consultation with Subject Matter Experts.
  • Experience with content creation and management in Totara-based learning management systems such as Agora.
  • Proven experience with e-learning development tools, such as, Vyond, Articulate, and Canva.
  • Experience with requirements to ensure accessibility of learning assets.

Desirables:

  • Experience with conducting synchronous virtual instructor-led training sessions to online audiences
  • Proven adult learning training expertise
  • Video editing experience is an asset

 

Skills:

  • Project Management, Collaboration, Problem Solving, Digital Dexterity
  • Experience using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other UNICEF systems

Language requirements:

  • Fluency in English (Spoken and Written) is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Internal applicants from the GSSC are required to complete the Learning Path corresponding to their current level before applying for another position. Additionally, they must attach a snapshot of the completed path to their applications. Applications that do not meet these two minimum requirements will not be considered. Applicants must be nationals of Hungary or EU/Schengen countries OR in the possession of a valid long-term Hungarian residence and work permits. Temporary and/or sponsored visas are not accepted. UNICEF GSSC does not facilitate MFA accreditation for locally recruited staff, applicants must be holders of acceptable permits already at the time of application. Applicants with non-EU citizenship must attach copies of their valid Hungarian work permits, otherwise their applications will not be considered.
