How can you make a difference?
The IM Officer (WASH Cluster) will be supporting sub-national Cluster coordination systems including ABCs where applicable. The position reports to WASH Specialist and Cluster coordination Consultant for general guidance and direction.
The Information Management Officer (WASH Cluster) will be a key member of the national WASH cluster coordination team and will play a vital role in collecting, analyzing, and sharing information that is important for cluster stakeholders to make informed, evidence based strategic decisions on:
- The needs of affected populations
- The prioritization of these areas according to WASH indicators
- Where there is a need for WASH actors and to what degree
- What are the key gaps in activity and need
- What capacity (human, material, financial) exists to be used in support of the identified prioritised response needs, and what are the funding priorities
The position therefore supports the WASH Cluster Coordinator by providing the data and information required to make programmatic decisions. As such, the Information Management Officer needs to liaise and communicate with different types of people and agencies and act as a bridge between WASH decision makers and technical IM staff such as OCHA, SWALIM and other clusters. A core requirement of the role is the ability to present information in a way that is easily understood by cluster members. This may include maps, tables, charts, and narrative reports, as well as direct discussions with decision makers to support interpretation of findings.

Minimum requirements
- Education: Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Information Management, Information Systems, GIS, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Public Health combined with strong data analysis and information management skills, or a related field relevant to information management and WASH Cluster coordination is required. Formal training in Cluster coordination or Information Management or an advanced university degree are considered an added advantage.
- Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Information Technology, Monitoring and Evaluation, information management, data analysis, needs assessment, strategic response planning, resource mobilization, implementation and monitoring, operational peer review, accountability to affected people, capacity strengthening, WASH supplies management. and any other related fields. Proven strong information management skills in a professional context.
- Skills: Coordination, Data Analysis , Reporting, Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation, Visualization.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Somali is required.
Desirables
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
- Data Analysis, GIS
- Experience in humanitarian settings and coordination systems is an asset.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
