For every child, the right to peace

Under the guidance of the Communication Specialist, and in coordination with the ADAP programme, the Partnership Intern will assist in designing a partnership concept aimed at engaging diaspora Generation Z and Generation Alpha audiences in fundraising and advocacy for UNICEF. The Intern will further contribute to initiatives engaging young people in Armenia to promote climate action and strengthen youth center activities.

How can you make a difference?

Scope of Work:

The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programs, in advocacy and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to children’s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias or favoritism. To the degree that any child has an unequal chance in life — in its social, political, economic, civic and cultural dimensions — her or his rights are violated. There is growing evidence that investing in the health, education and protection of a society’s most disadvantaged citizens — addressing inequity — not only will give all children the opportunity to fulfill their potential but also will lead to sustained growth and stability of countries. This is why the focus on equity is so vital. It accelerates progress towards realizing the human rights of all children, which is the universal mandate of UNICEF, as outlined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, while also supporting the equitable development of nations.

Many local and international civil society organisations, church-based organisations and foundations have successfully engaged in private sector fundraising in Armenia and abroad, especially through Armenian diaspora, which continuously contributes to the country’s economy and philanthropic projects. UNICEF has relied so far on successful resource mobilisation from institutional donors to generate resources for the implementation of the Country Programme and for humanitarian response. This will be further pursued in the future, alongside the growth of the private sector engagement and fundraising programme, guided by a local strategy and corporate guidance. The Country Office recognizes the potential of diaspora audiences to contribute to the unfinished child rights agenda in Armenia through different means and forms. This internship will serve to advance these and underlying goals by supporting the design of mechanisms to engage with young people in diaspora for Armenian children.
