How can you make a difference
The Automation System Architect plays a pivotal role in the organization’s digital transformation by designing and implementing robust automation solutions that streamline business processes, improve efficiency, and enable innovation. The role requires deep expertise in automation technologies and system architecture, supported by a strong foundation in software development and IT infrastructure.
This position is responsible for the full automation lifecycle- from solution design and implementation to ongoing maintenance and management. This includes identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, recommending and implementing appropriate tools and environments, and designing scalable workflows supported by clear documentation and standards.
A core responsibility is to provide clear architectural direction, standardized design patterns, and well-defined implementation roadmaps. This includes outlining actions, resource requirements, and timelines to ensure delivery teams can focus on execution within a coherent, governed, and scalable automation framework.
This is a Temporary Appointment (TA) until 31 December 2026.

Minimum requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree (University degree) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with specialized training or work experience in the fields of RPA and other Process Automation technologies is required.
- Work Experience: Minimum one (1) year of experience as an Automation Architect, System Architect, or in a similar role with a focus on automation technologies.
- Skills: Solid understanding of programming languages such as AutoIt, Python, VBA, VBS or Java. Expertise in RPA tools (e.g., Blue Prism UiPath, Automation Anywhere) and understanding of AI, ML, and workflow automation technologies. Experience in designing and implementing complex automation solutions in an enterprise environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess business processes and identify automation opportunities. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and understanding of API integrations, database systems, and software development.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in both spoken and written English is required.
Desirables:
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field is an asset.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
