How can you make a difference? 

UNICEF Mozambique is strengthening Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) across key sectors including health, nutrition, education, child protection, WASH, social protection, and climate resilience. SBC work generates valuable programme knowledge that needs to be documented, organized, and shared to support programme improvement, policy influence, and scaling effective approaches. The KM Intern will support the SBC team by documenting experiences, organizing knowledge, and supporting knowledge sharing with partners and learning platforms.

Purpose and Justification

The purpose of this internship is to support the SBC section in operationalizing Knowledge Management (KM) functions, with a focus on:

•            Documentation of best practices, innovations and lessons learned

•            Organization of knowledge products and repositories

•            Strengthening learning culture and visibility of SBC work

This internship also provides hands-on experience in:

•            SBC programming

•            behavioural evidence

•            knowledge systems in development contexts

 

Overall Objective is to support the SBC team in strengthening knowledge management systems and practices to enhance learning, evidence use and programme visibility.

Specific Objectives being to support documentation, synthesis of SBC programme experiences and to contribute to the organization of knowledge products and repositories and to contribute to strengthening KM tools, templates and processes.

 MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowledge Documentation and Content Development

Support documentation of:

    • SBC best practices
    • case studies
    • lessons learned
  • Assist in compiling content from programme sections in Health and Child Marriage
  • Support synthesis of behavioural evidence and programme insights

 

Knowledge Products and Communication

  • Support development of:
    • briefs and summaries of projects
    • presentations
    • simple visual products (e.g. slides, infographics, podcasts)
  • Assist in preparing content for:
    • internal learning
    • external visibility (web, reports, events)

To qualify as an advocate for every child, you will need …

Minimum requirements:

Education: Intern should be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s degree programme in Communication for Development, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, or Behavioral Sciences.

Skills: Strong writing, research, synthesis, and analytical skills. Interest in knowledge management, research, and documentation. Ability to organize and structure information. Attention to detail and quality control. Basic digital skills in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Interest in SBC, community engagement, or development programming.

Competencies: Strong attention to detail. Ability to organize information clearly. Teamwork and collaboration. Strong communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Learning mindset and adaptability.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Portuguese

 Desirables: Experience or exposure to knowledge management, communications, or development programmes. Familiarity with SBC concepts or community engagement work. Experience in producing simple knowledge products such as briefs, summaries, or presentations. Basic understanding of digital tools for content management or information sharing.
