How can you make a difference? 

1. BACKGROUND and PURPOSE OF LTA.

UNICEF Afghanistan seeks to establish a roster of highly qualified Afghan photographers and videographers to support the continuous production of high-quality multimedia content, including photos and videos, for advocacy and donor visibility purposes.
The Communication and Advocacy Section intends to engage these professionals through consultancy contracts under a Long-Term Agreement (LTA). Selected consultants will be expected to undertake field assignments at short notice, capture compelling visual content, and deliver outputs within tight deadlines.

2. OBJECTIVE(S)

The overall objective is to set up a Long-Term Agreement to facilitate and expedite the process by which UNICEF in Afghanistan will hire photographers/videographers/editors as required for specific assignments.

4. MAJOR TASKS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED / SCOPE OF WORK

PHOTOGRAPHY SERVICES:

• Provision of high-quality photo coverage of UNICEF programmes, activities, and events, in addition to other photo assignments, essays and projects based on needs and workplans.
• It is the responsibility of the consultant to ensure that all permissions are in place for the photographers within their employ. Female photographers are particularly a encouraged.
• All photography assignments shall be delivered with full captions and UNICEF consent forms. Photos delivered without captions will not be accepted.
• Per day, photography assignments, are assumed to produce between 40 -50 high quality, edited photographs.

VIDEOGRAPHY SERVICES:

• Where needed, editing and post-production services (including basic graphics, sound mixing, colour correction, etc.) to produce edited video packages in the UNICEF ‘house style’ of UNICEF programmes, activities, and events, in addition to other assignments and projects based on needs and workplans.

Responsibilities of the Consultant:

• The consultant will provide all equipment, software and accessories required to deliver the assignment, including cameras, lenses, audio equipment, lighting, laptops, editing software and storage devices.
• The consultant will deliver photography and/or videography services in line with the agreed brief, UNICEF technical standards, branding requirements, ethical imaging principles and delivery timelines.
• The consultant will ensure that all required permissions, access arrangements and clearances are in place for themselves and any personnel engaged for the assignment, in coordination with UNICEF where required.
• The consultant will obtain and submit signed UNICEF consent forms for all identifiable subjects, including caregivers of children, as required.
• The consultant will ensure that all subjects are treated with dignity and respect, and that children and vulnerable individuals are not exposed to harm, stigma or risk during photography, filming or interviewing.
• The consultant will submit all required deliverables in the agreed format, including edited photographs, compiled video footage, captions, metadata, shot-lists, transcripts, translations and consent forms, as applicable.
• The consultant will ensure that all files are clearly labelled, securely stored and transferred to UNICEF through agreed channels.
• The consultant will not share, publish, sell, distribute or use any UNICEF-commissioned content, including raw or edited materials, without prior written permission from UNICEF.
• All materials produced under the assignment, including raw and edited photographs, footage, interviews, audio, captions, scripts and final products, will be the property of UNICEF.
• The consultant will not place any personal logo, watermark, emblem or branding on the content or final products unless authorised by UNICEF.
• The consultant will complete reasonable revisions or corrections requested by UNICEF within the agreed timeframe.

Number of working days for this consultancy is based on needs. This is a standby LTA for photo and video services. The successful consultants will be placed on a roster and will be contacted as/when needed. Duration of assignments will be discussed and agreed upon on a case-by-case basis.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Minimum requirements:

• A minimum of bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Arts, Media, Communication, Literature, Marketing, Journalism, Advertising. A Diploma in a relevant field with experience can be considered in lieu of the degree.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience.
• Extensive background in video production, journalism for TV, radio and print, news writing, film, breaking news, broadcasting and documentaries.
• Fluency in oral and written English is required. 
• Fluency in local languages is required.
