How can you make a difference?

Are you passionate about communication and storytelling? UNICEF GSSC offers an exciting opportunity to create impactful content for internal and external audiences and to work in the GSSC broadcasting studio, bringing stories and messages to life through high-quality multimedia production

Under the supervision of the Communication Specialist (P3), the Communication Assistant (GS5) will reinforce the video production capacity of the GSSC and will create engaging and impactful video content for internal and external channels. The role will also operate the broadcasting studio of the GSSC and support the livestreaming end-to-end production of live global internal events targeted at UNICEF staff audiences.  

Key functions, accountabilities and related tasks:

  •  Multimedia content creation, with a focus on video and visual design 
  • Broadcasting studio management
  • Other technical and administrative support

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Education

  • Completion of High School Diploma is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the field of work

 Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience (communications, journalism, client engagement, content management etc.) is required for candidates holding high school diploma.
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience for candidates holding bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, international relations/development or related field. A relevant master’s degree may replace additional 2 years.

 Required skills

  •  Experience using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Video production experience, incl. studio management
  • Graphic design experience (Pro Adobe or other)
  • High sense of confidentiality, initiative and good judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve common goals
  •  

Desirable 

  • Knowledge of another UN language (besides English) is considered as an asset
  • Experience within the United Nations or other international organization is an asset. 
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite.  
  • Shared Services/Global Business Services experience.

Language requirements

  •  Fluency in English both verbal and written is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, French, Russian, Spanish or Chinese) or a local language is an asset.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.

Remarks

 As per Article 101, paragraph 3, of the Charter of the United Nations, the paramount consideration in the employment of the staff is the necessity of securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity.

Government employees who are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government positions before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
