How can you make a difference? 

Purpose of the job:

Under the guidance of the Chief of Field Services, the Field Coordinator is accountable for the coordination of programme planning, design, implementation and administration of UNICEF-supported activities within a major programme in Districts/City Corporations under his/her Area of Responsibility (AoR) in accordance with the Country Programme Recommendation and Country Programme Management Plan, emergency preparedness and responses, focused on achievement of UNICEF's Priorities. This role requires extensive field presence, with frequent travel to project locations to engage with subnational authorities, monitor programme activities and support emergency preparedness and response.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required, including Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Community Development, or other related fields.

Work Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in programme coordination, public policy, government liaison, emergency preparedness/response, or development/humanitarian programming is required.
  • Experience working with government systems at the subnational level, especially in multisectoral programmes or emergency coordination, is required.
  • Experience in risk-informed programming of social sectors, disaster management and coordination is highly desirable.
  • Experience in coordination with government, national and subnational bodies, UN agencies, NGOs or development partners is considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrated professional level analytical writing and presentation skills in English are required.
  • Prior work experience with UNICEF or other UN agencies is desirable but not mandatory.

Skills:  

  • Ability to support coordination, planning and implementation follow-up of multi-sectoral programmes at subnational level.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with government counterparts, partners and UNICEF teams.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with different Sections and focal points, influencing and aligning activities through evidence, coordination and diplomacy.
  • Ability to analyse information, identify risks and bottlenecks, and propose practical solutions.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and briefs and contribute to evidence-based decision-making.

Language Requirements: 

  • Fluency in English and Bangla is Required

Desirables:

  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

Remarks:

UNICEF staff members holding fixed-term, continuing, or permanent appointments who are considered to be on abolished post status may apply for this temporary position and, if selected with a start date before 31 December 2025, may take it up as a temporary assignment, in line with UNICEF guidance on separation due to the abolition of posts or staff reduction. They will retain their fixed-term entitlements but will not hold a lien to their abolished post.
