The Opportunity

Reporting to the Policy & Planning Analyst III, this position serves the mission of the University leading the efforts to enhance a culture of evidence, student-centered learning, and continuous improvement. The Learning and Organizational Development Specialist I (working title Instructional Assessment Coordinator) will oversee the student evaluation system as well as assist with the management of other teaching and learning initiatives and projects. The coordinator will support the Textbook Adoption initiatives through data collection, reporting, documentation, and collaboration with stakeholders. Under general direction, the coordinator would develop and lead assessment workshops, training, and consulting support for faculty, staff, and administrators. This position works closely with academic department leaders, individual faculty, and university partners to further university goals.

 

The essential functions of this position are as follows:

Institutional Assessment Planning and Management

  • Supports the campus student course evaluation system for academic programs, departments, or similar units.
  • Assists with the coordination of a third-party vendor on the implementation of the evaluation system each term.
  • Collaborates with UFIT staff on the integration of the evaluation system into Canvas and the University’s SIS.
  • Provides faculty with feedback on how to utilize the results of student evaluations for course improvement and to enhance student engagement.
  • Assists in the set-up of evaluation instruments across the university’s 16 colleges for each term.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Coordinates with university stakeholders each term to deliver and interpret assessment and institutional data and identify strategies for continuous quality improvement.
  • Helps assess affordability initiatives within Textbook Adoption programming (including library programs) and helps prepare data for Board of Governors report.
  • Collaborates with the eText Coordinator, stakeholders, and UF Business Services to support compliance with state legislation on textbook adoptions and affordability.
  • Ensures consistency and accuracy of data by developing and implementing standardized processes and documentation. Builds and maintains Affordable UF reporting dashboards. 
  • Calculates return on investment of Affordable UF Grant program. Track savings from OER adoptions on campus and assists with facilitating the OER faculty learning community.

Training and Consultation

  • Works with department administrators, instructors, staff, and College committees to assist in establishing annual priorities, completing reports, and collecting and analyzing data to improve student learning.
  • Plans and executes training workshops to assist faculty and staff in conducting effective and meaningful evaluation and assessment activities, including program review and evaluation and assessment of student learning.

 

Research

  • Conducts and/or assists on a wide variety of survey research efforts for the unit.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of integrated institutional self-assessment programs, as appropriate to the objectives of the position.

Expected Salary:

$50,000 - $55,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excel experience
  • Tableau and/or Python preferred
