Job Description: |
Supervise and perform laboratory testing and daily oversight of the routine laboratory workflow and technical staff. Diagnostic and prognostic testing emphasizes utilizing immunoassay techniques including, but not limited to, radioimmunoassay (RIA), chemiluminescence immunoassay (CIA), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and indirect immunofluorescence microscopy assays
Participate in the validation and implementation of new assays in the Endocrinology/ Immunology laboratory section, along with other technologists, as defined by the laboratory director. Actively participate in the interfacing of automated instrumentation with the laboratory information system (LIS); involved in LIS associated tasks such as test builds and dictionary maintenance.
Responsible for laboratory adherence to all Quality Control/Quality Assurance policies and procedures including all defined documentation.
Participate in the overall maintenance of the laboratory. Purchase supplies, maintain instruments and equipment, and comply with all laboratory policies and procedures. Recommend updates and make changes to laboratory procedure manuals. Responsible for keeping the UFHPL Core Lab in a continual state of readiness per CAP, AHCA, and CLIA requirements. Conduct performance appraisals and competency assessments for staff.
The individual participates in laboratory funded research activities required for the Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet Core Laboratory, Radiant Central Laboratory, and the Islet Autoantibodies Standardization Program (IASP).

Preferred Qualifications: |
Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Immunohematology, Molecular Pathology, Microbiology, and Serology under Chapter 483, Florida Statutes. - Prior Clinical Laboratory experience in the area of endocrine autoantibody testing and the analyzers used to perform this testing. - Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute laboratory testing. - Ability to use problem solving techniques in the laboratory. - Ability to communicate with other technologists and supervisors. - Ability to collect and analyze data. - Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures for clinical testing.
