Job Description:

The University of Florida Department of Psychiatry is seeking an outstanding leader for the position of Division Chief and Associate/Full Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), tenure or non-tenure track faculty position. The individual will oversee the clinical, academic, and research operations in child and adolescent psychiatry within our department. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and highly experienced, board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist with a passion for advancing mental health care and education for children and adolescents and their families. This role includes significant leadership, teaching, scholarly, and administrative responsibilities, with opportunities to shape the future of psychiatric care and research at our institution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Administration:
    • Provide visionary leadership for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry division, fostering a collaborative, equitable, and high-quality academic and clinical environment.
    • Oversee and ensure the integration of clinical services, educational programs, and scholarly/research initiatives.
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance patient care, research output, and educational excellence.
    • Mentor and guide junior faculty members, fellows, and residents in professional development and academic growth.
    • Serve as a liaison between the department and other clinical and academic departments and programs.
  • Clinical & Teaching:
    • Provide direct clinical care in child and adolescent psychiatry, including inpatient and outpatient services.
    • Supervise and participate in the education and training of psychiatry residents, child and adolescent psychiatry fellows, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Participate in curriculum development and delivery for child and adolescent psychiatry within the department.
    • Work with the child and adolescent child psychiatry program director to ensure that educational programs meet accreditation standards and maintain high levels of quality.
  • Research & Scholarship:
    • Foster and lead scholarly and/or research initiatives focused on child and adolescent mental health.
    • Encourage interdisciplinary research collaborations within and outside the department.
    • Publish in peer-reviewed journals and/or present at national/international conferences.

 
Expected Salary:

Commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Eligibility for licensure in Florida.
  • Academic rank of Associate Professor or higher (or equivalent experience).
  • A strong record of clinical, scholarly, and educational accomplishments.
  • Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience in an academic or clinical setting.
  • Experience in mentoring, program or curriculum development, and teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • National recognition in child and adolescent psychiatry clinical care, research or education.
  • Experience developing or leading innovative programs in mental health care for children and adolescents.
  • A track record of publications and research in the field of child psychiatry.
  • Ability to secure research funding.
