The UF Health Cancer Center is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span 11 of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 330 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.
As part of our Cancer Research Administration internship, you will be exposed to the research administration lifecycle with a focus on cancer research. As part of this program, you will:
- Assist in basic searches of funding opportunities.
- Review funding instruments to help determine basic institutional and investigator eligibility.
- Interpret basic funding opportunities and sponsor policies for key information.
- Assist in the preparation of basic proposal budget in accordance with sponsor guidelines.
- Help gather proposal documents from study teams and assist in the compliance review of these documents.
- Review spending activity an determine allowability of routine expenses based on sponsor guidelines.
- Perform basic analysis of financial data to ensure compliance with sponsor budget and project timeline.
- Present basic financial status information of a research project to the principal investigator.
This program will begin in January 2025 and last for 12 weeks, requiring a commitment of 15 hours per week. Ideal candidates will have an interest in exploring a career in Research Administration and a desire to learn about the role of Research Administration in advancing cancer research. Minimum Requirements: |

Enrolled as an undergraduate junior in a major such as business, health care, health science, public policy, or a related field.

Ability to commit to 15 hours per week for a full academic semester.

Access to a computer, WiFi, and video conference technology.

Availability to travel to the UF campus in Gainesville for a two-day orientation at the start of the semester.
UF students interested in this role must meet and maintain eligibility to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
