The Department of Community Health and Family Medicine at the University of Florida is seeking a Clinical Coding & Reimbursement Supervisor to lead coding compliance, education, and reimbursement optimization within our clinical operations. This role is essential in ensuring accurate coding practices, adherence to federal and state regulations, and efficient revenue cycle management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Compliance & Education: Develop and oversee the department’s Billing Compliance Plan, write policies, conduct audits, and provide hands-on training to ensure best practices in medical coding and documentation.
- Enhance Revenue Integrity: Monitor clinical revenue trends, provide feedback to improve collections, and collaborate with leadership to optimize reimbursement strategies.
- Empower Faculty & Residents: Offer real-time coding education, conduct individualized training, and stay engaged in the clinical setting to provide immediate feedback.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Stay ahead of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations, ensuring accurate claim submission and adherence to evolving policies.
- Supervise & Support: Lead a team of clinical coding professionals, track documentation issues, and ensure efficiency and compliance in coding operations.
- Leadership Support: Partner with departmental leadership to ensure program efficiencies, compliance, and provide policy/procedure updates and recommendations as necessary.
- Collaborate Across Departments: Work closely with Billing and Accounts Receivable, IT, and Compliance teams to enhance billing processes and resolve coding challenges.
- Act as a Key Resource: Serve as a go-to expert for coding inquiries, provider enrollment, and HIPAA/FERPA compliance, supporting the department’s mission of excellence in patient care and education.
- Provide On-Site Support: Travel to clinics as needed to ensure compliance and offer training in real-world scenarios.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Minimum of five years in professional medical coding, preferably in an academic medicine setting, with expertise in at least four clinical specialties.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant college coursework or vocational training may substitute at an equivalent rate.
- Certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P) required.
- Skills: Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to educate and engage diverse audiences.
