Position Overview

The FYCS Department is seeking a creative, motivated, and adaptable part-time Communications Assistant to join our team. This position offers an opportunity for an individual passionate about higher education and digital communication strategies to help us engage our audiences in the online space. The ideal candidate will assist in content creation and management of our social media presence, execute communication plans for the department, and act as our communication liaison.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Brainstorm content ideas, create content from faculty requests, create a content calendar, stay up to date on trends, finding stories through building department connections, create social media campaigns for student recruitment and retention.
  • Social Media Management: Manage and start up various social media accounts for the department, handle direct messages, work as a member of the Social Media Task Force.
  • Email Campaigns: Create newsletters for internal contacts, send marketing emails to external audiences.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Track social media analytics, create reports on analytics, work with team to create new strategies based on reports.
  • Policy and Brand Compliance: Ensure that content and products meet UF brand and policy compliance, regularly review content for compliance, stay informed on policies and branding, as well as any updates on changes to these.
  • Website Management: Monitor FYCS website and pages, update website pages as needed, continuously review website for compliance.

Work Environment

  • Part-time position requiring a commitment of 20 hours per week.
  • Flexible work hours between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.
  • In-office position.
Expected Salary:

19.00/hr

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and tools for scheduling and content management; education or training in social media.
  • Familiar with basic graphic design tools.
  • Interested in marketing, communications, and higher education.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
