This is a working overnight supervisor position with the candidate working alongside their team Wednesday through Saturday from 6pm until 4am, with expectation of flexibility to ensure adequate coverage for shifts, attend required meetings, or to meet with staff. The Progressive Care Ward (PCW) Supervisor's role is pivotal in creating a positive work environment that is conducive to learning, and promotes a synergistic team approach to fulfill our mission of providing high-quality patient care from admission to discharge. We strive to maintain an inclusive ECC/PCW team philosophy and often engage PCW technicians to assist in both the ER and ICU to develop advanced nursing clinical skills and to promote critical thinking strategies. Promoting strong patient advocacy and attention to detail in our technicians is a large component of mentoring and is crucial to maintaining patient safety and high-quality nursing care. There is a myriad of types of cases hospitalized in the PCW, including orthopedic, ophthalmic, cardiac, and oncology cases, as well as many types of patients seen by our internal medicine and ECC services such as diabetics, snake envenomation, pancreatitis, immune-mediated diseases. The PCW also includes our isolation ward for housing infectious respiratory cases and parvo, etc. Our clinicians rely on our supervisors and managers to ensure techs have appropriate training and guidance to be at the top of their game.
