Policy and Governance – Participate in university committees and organizations related to end-user computing. Monitor pending changes in university policy and regulations impacting end-user computing; develop proactive plans to enable full compliance at the WCB with minimum cost and disruption. Interpret and apply relevant policy and regulation to WCB end-user computing. Develop and implement local policies, standards, procedures and best practices as necessary to foster a secure, productive, cost-effective end user computing environment for the WCB. Implement appropriate strategies to maximize user awareness and compliance.
Manage End-User Support Team – Manage the team’s daily operations. Ensure the team has the correct mix of skills and sufficient bandwidth to meet requirements. Responsible for hiring, scheduling, supervising, mentoring and developing the skills of team members.
Information Security – The IT Manager will take a leadership role in maintaining the security of the WCB end-user computing environment: interpret and apply UF information security policies plus other relevant policy/regulation; implement appropriate user awareness activities. The IT Manager will also materially participate in maintaining the security of other WCB information systems
Hands-On Support – Lead by example, solving some of the most complex problems in the most mission-critical areas, and modeling best practices for the rest of the end-user support team.
Research and Development – Monitor industry trends, best practices employed by other UF units, and also best practices of peer institution; look for opportunities to deploy tools that improve security, increase productivity, reduce cost, etc. Evaluate and implement as appropriate.
Stakeholder Engagement – Engage with WCB stakeholders to understand their IT support needs, any gaps between services and needs, and their level of satisfaction with the current provision of services. Identify emerging service needs, and also opportunities to add value to their programs.
Administrative – The end-user computing support team is a subunit of WCB IT Support Programs (ITSP). Participate in the ITSP collaborative management team, provide the ITSP director with budget proposals, and be responsible for managing approved budgets to effectively deliver services and projects to the College.
