Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an experienced Associate Director, IT to join Infrastructure and Communication Technology (ICT), a unit within UFIT.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

Infrastructure and Communication Technology is responsible for supporting the identity and access management and computing platform needs for the University. The portfolio includes all components of public and private cloud offering, infrastructure and platform as a service and underlying technologies including the network, compute and storage needed to light up the digital highways.

The Associate Director, IT will be responsible for supporting the Storage, Identity and Access Management, and Cloud Platform needs of the University.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Assist with building vision and executing IT strategy to further improve and enhance UFIT enterprise services.
  • Collaborate with other IT leaders and units to deploy and maintain large scale enterprise systems while maintaining good security posture and operational availability and reliability.
  • Introduce innovation through proposed service enhancements to advance UFIT’s strategic goals.
  • Manage large teams and budgets in a progressive service delivery environment.

Benefits

Full-time TEAMS employees accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Vacation-accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status. These leave days may allow units to close from December 26 to 31, when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:

$135,000 – $150,000; commensurate based on education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and five years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and seven years of relevant experience.

Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Extensive experience in computing/network/storage/identity and access management, and/or facilities infrastructure, systems administration, and programming
  • Five to seven years of experience managing multiple, large, complex cross-organization projects and teams

This role will be based in one of our Gainesville offices and may include a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office (Wednesday required), and 2 days remote.
