Job Description:

Support the Program Directors and Assistant Program Director in overseeing and managing all surgical education programs within the department. Develop and maintain strategies to ensure compliance with ACGME training requirements for all accredited residency programs.

  • Maintain records for past and present trainees in the Department of Surgery programs. This includes monitoring and documenting the progression of training toward graduation requirements.
  • Prepares for and organize regular occurring meetings with program director and trainees in accordance with the accreditation requirements. Monitors attendance at all scheduled meetings.
  • Assist with the development of educational activities, scheduling curriculum sessions, and monitoring methods of assessment of educational initiatives and core competencies.
  • Manage the program database as required by surgical specialty.
  • May assist in program-level policy development and the development of strategic planning of the residency program and monitor the budget for various residency activities.
  • Oversee the planning of internal and external events. This includes financial responsibilities such as: reimbursement, invoices and planning travel for trainees.
  • Assist with the reimbursement for travel of the Vice Chair of Education
  • Oversee departmental events such as Morbidity and Mortality
  • Assists the Assistant Director of Education and Training with recruitment of new residency/fellowship coordinators in the education staff. Reviews applications and sets up interviews.
  • Assists the Assistant Director of Education and Training with training new coordinators and developing workshops, events, and training.
Expected Salary:

$55,000 - $60,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience coordinating educational programs, accredited residency and/or fellowship programs; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Requires initiative and good judgment.
  • Attention to detail is very important.
  • Ability and desire to be a team player, being able to work effectively with department faculty and personnel.
  • Experience in the Graduate Medical Education desired
