Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an entry level End User Computing Specialist I to join Learning Spaces Academic Technology, a unit within UFIT.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other dedicated employees focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

The Academic Technology Learning Spaces Support team is responsible for the installation, configuration, and support of all technology and equipment in roughly 275 classrooms across campus. The team also supports multiple computer labs, conference rooms and digital signage services. This work includes real-time on-site and remote support/consultations for faculty.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Configuring and troubleshooting AV technology   
  • Configuring and troubleshooting Windows and MacOS based computers
  • Providing support for instructors in potentially high-stress situations

Benefits

Full-time TEAMS employees accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Vacation-accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status. These leave days may allow units to close from December 26 to 31, when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:

$20.72 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.

Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • EDUCATION & TRAINING
    • Training and certifications with AV technology (e.g. Crestron) or computer management (e.g. A+, Microsoft)
  • EXPERIENCE
    • Experience with Audio Visual wiring and technologies
    • Experience with Windows and MacOS computers
  • SKILLS
    • Exemplary communication skills; ability to explain complex, highly technical information to non-technical colleagues using clear, simple language
  • KNOWLEDGE
    • Awareness of current standards and trends in AV, IT and emerging technology
  • ABILITIES
    • Manage multiple tasks to deadlines; communicate progress at regular intervals
    • Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
    • Provide excellent service through professional and courteous interactions with internal and external customers while meeting business needs
    • Florida driver license required
