Job Description:

The University of Florida College of Nursing is seeking an Associate Director of Human Resources to be responsible for overseeing all human resources functions within the College of Nursing to ensure compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness in HR operations. This role involves managing talent acquisition, payroll oversight, employee relations, policy development, and compliance with state and federal regulations. The Director serves as a strategic advisor to leadership and plays a key role in fostering an inclusive and compliant work environment. Serve as the College of Nursing liaison with University of Florida (UF) HR offices.

Human Resources Operations & Compliance

Directs all HR functions including talent acquisition, onboarding, terminations, reappointments, promotions, retirements, salary changes, and employee leaves. Ensures compliance with university policies and regulations regarding faculty, staff, and student employment. Manages payroll oversight, distributions, effort reporting, and immigration compliance. University-level authority for processing payroll retros. Reviews and approves faculty/staff Conflict of Interest/Outside Employment forms.

Recruitment and Talent Management

Oversees the recruitment process for faculty and staff, ensuring adherence to fair hiring practices. Approves interview candidates and new hires. Reviews and approves all Letters of Offer for staff. Conducts monthly meetings with HR Managers and Associate Directors to provide updates and

Employee Relations and Conflict Resolution

Advises the Dean, associate deans, directors, department chairs, and managers on employee relations matters. Investigates and determines appropriate actions for disciplinary matters, layoffs, and non-renewals. Collaborates with General Counsel, the Provost’s Office, and Employee Relations for academic and staff-related concerns. Interprets and applies Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) and UF regulations in HR-related

Strategic HR Leadership & Organizational Planning

Meets weekly with the Dean to discuss HR activities and provide strategic recommendations. Reviews and recommends organizational structure improvements and staffing decisions. Drafts faculty Letters of Offer and Startup Letters in coordination with financial stakeholders. Holds signature authority on behalf of the Dean and Chairs for employment offers. 

Budget & Policy Development

Coordinates with the Director of Finance on budgeting for college-funded positions. Approves new and replacement position postings, SPI requests, and reclassifications. Develops and implements internal policies, ensuring compliance and effective communication across departments.

Retirement & Benefits Administration

Provides retirement education and counseling for faculty and staff. Oversees federal and state employee benefits and retirement processing. Responds to inquiries regarding retirement plans and options. Assists employees in obtaining retirement projections and navigating layoff scenarios.

Expected Salary:

110,000 - 125,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience.
