The Opportunity
Are you passionate about producing high-impact journalism and guiding the next generation of storytellers? WUFT and the Innovation News Center (INC) at the University of Florida is hiring a Multimedia Content Producer to help shape content across our audio platforms and support a dual mission of community service and student education.
Located in the College of Journalism and Communications, the INC is a multiplatform newsroom serving north central Florida. We produce award-winning content for WUFT-TV/FM, WRUF-TV/FM, WUFT.org, WRUF.com, the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network (FPREN) and beyond.
What you’ll do
As a key member of the WUFT-FM news team, you will:
- Contribute to the creation and delivery of high-quality content by writing, editing, and anchoring newscasts for "Morning Edition," collaborating on studio and remote productions across radio and digital platforms, and guiding editorial oversight of a weekly public affairs-centered podcast.
- Handle live reporting and hosting duties in breaking news situations, while leading by example in our student-centered newsroom through active participation in editorial meetings and long-term planning.
- Help sustain a year-round newsroom operation that serves a 13-county listening area, providing timely and relevant information to our community.
Ideal Candidate:
We're seeking a curious, driven journalist with a passion for multiplatform storytelling. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative newsroom and is skilled in writing, editing, and producing content for broadcast, web, and social. This individual is also eager to support the University of Florida's mission of journalism education and public service.
This is an in-person position based in Gainesville, FL, and will be designated as an essential, to help cover severe weather like hurricanes and strong storm systems. Essential employees may be required to report to work, be “on call” to report to work, and/or be available to work remotely.

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Master’s degree in journalism, Media, Communication(s) or related fields
- Three years of relevant experience
- Experience working with the following:
Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products
- Newsroom operating & planning systems (such as NewsBoss, Descript & Airtable)
- Content management systems (WordPress, Grove, etc.)
- Live remote technology (LiveU, Comrex, etc.)
- Producing or hosting a local news magazine program, especially in a public media setting
- Knowledge of north central Florida, especially Gainesville, Ocala, and surrounding communities — including their politics, history, and culture
