Classification Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or equivalent area
• Minimum of 1 year of wet lab experience, and/or advanced degree

Job Description:
  • General lab management including ordering supplies and fiscal record keeping
  • Ensuring lab compliance with environmental health and safety and all other regulatory standards, including regulatory paperwork
  • Curation of laboratory data and biological material
  • Providing technical assistance for Brady Lab members
  • This position includes operating laboratory tools and equipment, collecting/organizing/presenting data, and working with the PI and other lab members to insure timely publication of the data
  • Conduct experiments designed by the laboratory PI and assist with experimental design
  • Bacterial membrane preparation, molecular cloning and mutagenesis, media preparation and assessment of bacterial growth phenotypes under environmental stress conditions, protein production and purification, Western blot, identification and characterization of protein-protein, protein nucleic acid, and protein-lipid interactions, RNAseq/gradient seq sample preparation
  • Prepare data for presentation at biweekly lab meetings
  • Train other lab members at the bench and assist with their experiments
  • Data analysis, presentation, and management
  • Prepare posters/talks for presentation at local, national, and international scientific meetings
  • Manuscript preparation
  • Maintenance of laboratory supplies
  • Interact with vendors and service providers on equipment purchases, repairs and service contracts
  • Receive and properly handle laboratory reagents
  • Proper maintenance and basic trouble-shooting of scientific equipment
Expected Salary:

Compensation commensurate with experience ($18-$25 per hour)

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, or equivalent area
  • Minimum of 1 year of wet lab experience, and/or advanced degree
  • Excellent written and oral English language skills
  • Ability to work independently to generate and analyze data
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a collaborative environment
Preferred:
  • Applicants should have a background in membrane biology, molecular genetics and regulation, and protein structure/function
