The Counseling & Wellness Center (CWC) seeks a student(s) to assist with the activities of CWC’s and UF GatorWell’s Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP) efforts and CWC AOD Programming. UF’s Collegiate Recovery Program serves as a space for students in recovery from alcohol or other drugs and students who support those in recovery to connect with and support one another. CWC AOD Programming provides opportunities and activities that support UF students in providing resources and psychoeducation that dispels misconceptions related to alcohol and other drugs to reduce risk/harms associated with substance use. Services and resources assist students who may seek a sense of self-empowerment & independence from alcohol, marijuana, other substances, gambling, and/or other behavioral addictions they may be navigating through. The Student Recovery Support Ambassador is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and facilitation of recovery services for UF students.

NOTE: Candidates may either identify as a student in recovery or a student ally for peers in recovery.  Applicants should be committed to supporting those in recovery and helping to build supportive spaces at the University of Florida.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist UF CWC and UF GatorWell Collegiate Recovery Program with duties including, but not limited to:
    • Supporting the development and maintenance of a Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) for UF students.
    • Facilitation and/or participation in tabling events to provide psychoeducation on the Collegiate Recovery Program.
    • Serving as a point of contact and resource for students interested in information about the Collegiate Recovery Program
    • Assisting with branding and outreach efforts of the CRP.
    • Assisting with programming and community building events (e.g. Sober Tailgates, Sober Socials, and Recovery Hangouts)
    • Utilizing active listening skills when engaging with current or prospective members of the CRP.
    • Assisting with preparation for CRP meetings (arrange tables/chairs, organize supplies, etc.)
    • Assisting with data collection and communications related to the provision of CRP services/programming for UF students in recovery.
    • Attending weekly meeting(s) with CWC’s AOD team for review of CRP Program assignments/projects.
    • Other similar duties as directed by supervisor.

 

Expected Salary:

$14/hour

Minimum Requirements:
  • Federal Work Study Award (Please check in with UF Financial Aid to determine eligibility) Able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Able to work a minimum of 5-10 hours per week.
  • Able to engage in a flexible work schedule that includes evening/weekend hours.
  • Able to work in hybrid work environment (in-office/remote duties); requires access to personal computer and internet.
  • Anticipated graduation date of Spring 2026 or later.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with facilitating presentations, training, and/or psycho-education focused on mental health and/or substance-related concerns.
  • Prior experience in health field and related sensitively for health information privacy and confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Positive, friendly, and professional attitude
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as carrying or moving CWC outreach and communication materials if needed
  • Reliable, good follow-through
