The Counseling & Wellness Center (CWC) seeks a Graduate Student to assist with the activities of CWC’s and UF GatorWell’s Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) Services programs. AOD services work to support UF students in gaining better understanding of the impact of substance use, develop programs that help students explore areas that may contribute to substance misuse, and facilitate services/initiatives to support students with goals of changing substance use patterns maintaining substance use goals and/or working towards abstaining and recovery. The AOD Graduate Student Assistant is responsible for assisting in the planning, development, and facilitation of intervention, prevention, and outreach services that center on safe substance use practices of UF students.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Assist UF CWC and UF GatorWell AOD Programs with duties including, but not limited to:
- Assisting with scheduling and coordinating AOD program services.
- Assisting with planning, development, and implementation of AOD outreach programming (i.e., AOD Awareness Campaigns and Events).
- Facilitation and/or participation in tabling events to provide psychoeducation on substance use awareness; including tips/strategies for obtaining campus-wide support for wellness related to substance use or mental health-related concerns.
- Assisting with planning, development, and facilitation of substance use presentations, workshops, and seminars (both in-person and online) for UF students, faculty, and staff.
- Assisting with facilitation of AOD screenings for UF students.
- Assisting with planning, development, and facilitation of AOD Recovery Programs, such as Recovery Tailgates and other evening/weekend sober student events.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of a Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) for UF students.
- Assisting with data collection and communications related to the provision of AOD services for UF students.
- Attending weekly meeting(s) with CWC’s outreach department for review of AOD Program assignments/projects.
- Other similar duties as directed by supervisor.

Expected Salary: |
$25/hour
|
Minimum Requirements: |
- Federal Work Study Award (Please check in with UF Financial Aid to determine eligibility) Able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
- Able to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week.
- Able to engage in a flexible work schedule that includes evening/weekend hours.
- Able to work in hybrid work environment (in-office/remote duties); requires access to personal computer and internet.
- Anticipated graduation date of Spring 2026 or later.

Preferred Qualifications: |
- Graduate student in psychology, counselor education, or a mental health-related field.
- Prior experience with facilitating presentations, training, and/or psychoeducation focused on mental health and/or substance-related concerns.
- Prior experience in health field and related sensitively for health information privacy and confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Positive, friendly, and professional attitude
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as carrying or moving CWC outreach and communication materials if needed
- Reliable, good follow-through
