Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an entry-level Desktop Support Specialist to join Academic Technology, a unit within UFIT. The UFIT Help Desk is a fully staffed call center that provides IT support to the entire campus.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Assists end users with getting set up on supported equipment and software
  • Assist with inventory
  • Familiarizing end-users with how to use the equipment and software
  • Assists end users with resolving software issues pertaining to supported software
  • Installs and moves computers, printers, and other end-user technology devices, including installing designated
  • system images and application software
  • Troubleshoots and resolves entry-level problems and provides entry-level maintenance for computers, printers, and
  • other end-user technology devices

Expected Salary:

$19.16 – 21.55 per hour; commensurate based on education and experience.

Required Qualifications:

Associate's degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.

Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience, but does not negate the minimum degree requirement(s).

Preferred:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:

  • Knowledge of various current OS environments
  • Experience providing direct customer support
  • Troubleshooting basic hardware and software, operating systems and utilities, and Internet client/server software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, G Suite, Dropbox, and other software used across campus
