Job Description:

This not a remote work position, and it is located on the University of Florida Main Campus in Gainesville, FL

Creating social media content for various social media platforms. This process includes but is not limited to pitching content ideas, researching information, sourcing stakeholders for content, scheduling times to meet with stakeholders, taking photographs, capturing video, recording audio, editing raw assets, monitoring new publications and creating copy and other written components of posts. All content must be compelling and made with a strategic goal in mind. This role will require collaboration with the Emerging Pathogens Institute marketing and communications team to ensure the content matches brand guidelines and can be incorporated through omnichannel marketing. There will be discussion with various stakeholders, who can serve as informational experts or taken, as well as communicators across campus to ensure that colleges, departments and other units can further promote the various stakeholders within their areas.

Social media content strategy responsibility. This role will require maintaining the social media calendar and other organizational tools. This process includes, but is not limited to, scheduling when posts should be published and tracking upcoming UF events, EPI events, holidays, and pop culture events. This role is expected to stay current on social media platform trends, updates, and news to remain a subject matter expert.

Monitoring social media platforms. This role will require routine check-ins on all platforms to check for notifications and interact with followers and similar accounts or content. The position is expected to review social media listening reports daily to spot-check for anything that may have been missed or find content that would be good to engage with or share.

Producing digital marketing material. This role is expected to develop flyers, digital signage slides, and other digital materials to help market events, institutional initiatives, and other promotional opportunities.

Covering social media content during events. To foster event engagement and increase brand awareness, live social media coverage may be required during events. Capturing content to post afterward is expected if live social media coverage is not assigned.

Expected Salary:

$50,000 starting, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area (English, journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing, or communications) and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization

• Two years of relevant experience creating digital content for various social media platforms.

• Demonstrated knowledge of the Associated Press (AP) Stylebook.

• Demonstrated knowledge on the following social media platforms: Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

• Demonstrated knowledge in social media best practices, platform trends and digital marketing.

• Proficiency in design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, and productivity software like Microsoft Office.

• Demonstrated knowledge of using social listening tools and third-party scheduling software.

• Demonstrated knowledge using audio-visual technology, including but not limited to wireless microphones, a video camera, a DSLR camera, etc.

• Proficient photography and videography editing skills.

• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify challenges, analyze situations, and devise effective solutions.

• Strong interest and passion for social media content creation.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

• Ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects and goals simultaneously.

• Strong organizational skills.
