OPS Laboratory Research Technician position is open in the Department of Oral Biology. This position is a primarily a research-oriented position, with active contributions to conference abstracts and publications, as an author.
We are part of the University of Florida Health Cancer Center. We aim to reveal novel molecular mechanisms contributing to dysregulation associated with human diseases, from infectious diseases to cancer. We pursue multidisciplinary studies from cell biology, virology, host-pathogen interactions to cancer.
The primary focus will be research as well as assisting in daily research laboratory operations, and will be assigned on a daily basis. Research responsibility includes microscopy imaging of cells, growing human cell lines, purification of protein/DNA/RNA, performing immunoblot assays, PCR and recombinant DNA technology. The ability of maintaining detailed records of experiments is essential for this position. Training will be provided on site, but prior laboratory training is a plus.
Additional duties include attending lab meetings, performing routine lab procedures, basic laboratory maintenance, preparing stock buffer solutions, maintaining laboratory stocks and equipment, organizing supplies, as needed.
The person in this position is expected to work between 20 to 40 hours per week, with flexibility, as agreed upon hiring.
