Job Description: |
The Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology is seeking a full time Biological Scientist III. This position is established to support the Heldermon Lab’s NIH-funded BPN UG3/UH3 research, focusing on therapeutic development. The biological scientist will conduct in vivo animal experiments, design and perform antibody, neutralizing antibody, and AAV potency assays. Responsibilities include data collection, statistical analysis, and preparing findings for publication or regulatory submission. This role requires strong experience with AAV-based assays, including neutralizing antibody and potency testing. The position will also have some laboratory management to include maintaining sufficient inventory of materials, supplies and equipment for efficient laboratory performance; The candidate will supervise volunteers within the lab.
Essential Functions;
• Perform and analyze animal-based experiments relevant to gene therapy and preclinical drug development. • Support study design, conduct, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards. • Design, validate, and perform AAV-based potency assays and neutralizing antibody assays). • Maintain expertise in assay development and quality control for biologics. • Maintain research supplies and equipment; assist in inventory control and procurement.. • Prepare experimental results for scientific publication, internal reporting, and FDA regulatory submission.. • Perform statistical analysis on results and prepare data for publication. Prepare reports on research findings. • Coordinate closely with the PI and research team on study progress and timelines. • Individual will assist with preventative maintenance on laboratory as needed and other duties as assigned.

Expected Salary: |
$60,000 - $80,000 Annually

Required Qualifications: |
Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field and seven years of experience or Master’s degree in biology or a related field with five year of experience. Doctoral degree in biology or related field with two years of experience.

Preferred: |
The incumbent must have good communication skills and be able to work well with colleagues, representatives of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and be able to seek information as needed when future experiments require special abilities or experience found only outside of the university.
