Join Our Team as a Financial Analyst III in the College of Medicine!

The College of Medicine, Office of the Dean, Division of Finance and Administration (DOFA) is seeking detail-oriented and motivated Accountant II to support essential accounting and financial reporting functions. Assisting the Director, Associate Director, and Assistant Director of Accounting, this position will play a key role in preparing supporting schedules for General Ledger transactions, performing daily and monthly reconciliations, and managing refund reconciliations processed in EPIC and paid by Accounts Payable for UF Health entities. The Accountant II will collaborate regularly with clinic operations and the Billing and Accounts Receivable (BAR) team to ensure accuracy and compliance with College of Medicine and FCPA policies and procedures. Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), possess strong analytical and communication skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Excel.

About This Role

Reconcile Patient Payments and Banking Data

  • Reconcile patient payments recorded in AllScripts with corresponding banking data.
  • Collaborate closely with St. John’s staff to ensure deposit accuracy across appropriate bank accounts.
  • Partner with St. John’s Accounting team to identify posting errors and transfer funds between entities as necessary.
  • Prepare detailed schedules to support payment postings in Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Review AllScripts GL data daily to ensure completeness and accuracy for month-end reporting.
  • Document procedures in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and recommend improvements to enhance workflow efficiency.

Monthly Accruals and Reserves

  • Generate monthly patient accrual entries based on AllScripts data for General Ledger recording.
  • Assist the Director and Associate Director in calculating reserves and accounts receivable balances.
  • Cross-train with the Assistant Director to provide backup support for EPIC-related accrual functions.

Monitor and Reconcile Financial Statements

  • Reconcile monthly St. John’s financial statements to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Monitor the accounts receivable balance and generate periodic reports for leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Accounting to develop SOPs for this evolving process.

Front Desk Deposit Reconciliation 

  • Cross-train with staff to support front desk deposit reconciliation efforts.
  • Partner with UF Health Physicians staff to investigate and correct EPIC Patient Accounting System deposit discrepancies.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills to meet deadlines and follow established procedures effectively.

Refund and Stale Dated Reconciliations 

  • Support the Assistant Director with monthly reconciliation of refunds processed through EPIC.
  • Verify refund transactions in Microsoft Dynamics and work with UF Health Physicians Cash & Refund Department (UFHP CRD) to correct discrepancies.
  • Identify stale-dated items, prepare monthly reports, and ensure appropriate posting back into EPIC and General Ledger systems.

Expected Salary:

$65,000 - $70,000; commensurate with education and experience.

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Preferred:

  • An Accounting Degree (preferred)
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel is required
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines
  • An ability to work with large amounts of data and possess excellent analytical skills Ability to work independently as well as be a good team player
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
