Job Description:

The University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a strategic Human Resources Business Partner (HR BP) to join College of Medicine Human Resources Office. This position offers an exciting opportunity to provide human resources leadership in alignment with the college’s academic, clinical, research, and administrative missions.

As the HR BP, you will partner directly with department leadership to deliver proactive, solutions-oriented HR guidance across workforce planning, employee relations, compliance, and organizational development. You will also contribute to college-wide HR strategy, engagement initiatives, and process improvements that support a high-performing and people-centered culture.

About This Role:

Strategic HR Partnership

  • Serving as a strategic human resources expert and advisor to department leaders and partners providing communication, guidance, and assistance to college departments.
  • Lead strategic workforce planning, organizational development, and change management.
  • Serve as a key liaison between College of Medicine departments and UFHR divisions as well as the College of Medicine’s Centers of Expertise (e.g., Benefits, Immigration, Employee Relations), to ensure coordinated, consistent, and timely HR support.

Recruitment, Retention & Engagement

  • Guide departments on position development, hiring strategies, and onboarding.
  • Support internal mobility, succession planning, and employee engagement.
  • Review letters of offer and serve as approver for ePAFs and job requisitions.

Compensation Consultation

  • Serve as a compensation consultant to provide classification, market analysis, and compensation planning guidance.
  • Advise on relevant state and federal laws and university compensation policy.

College of Medicine HR Strategic Support

  • Lead or support college-wide initiatives and innovative efforts.
  • Participate in College-wide HR strategy development and implementation projects.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Management, or a related field in the social sciences.
  • Experience in human resources, preferably within higher education or healthcare human resources.
  • Demonstrated ability apply sound business judgment and navigate the unique needs of an academic medical center or similarly complex organization.
  • Exposure to or involvement in change management, organizational assessments, and culture-building efforts. Customer-centric approach when assisting employees and supervisors. Ability to handle complex issues and inquiries professionally. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to share HR guidance clearly across diverse audiences and contribute to training or meetings when needed.
  • Collaborative mindset to work closely with HR team members, supervisors, department administrators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with employment laws, HR policies, and HRIS systems; proficiency with Microsoft 365, SalesForce and common productivity tools.
  • SHRM-CP certification preferred or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
