Job Description:

Support for Core Surgical Clerkship and Elective Rotations

  • Maintain accurate records for individual medical students and PA students on each rotation.
  • Develops the rotation curriculum schedules including all labs, rotation assignments, and rotation events (i.e. orientation, mid-point debriefing, end of rotation, debriefing, etc.) with oversight from the Clerkship Director.
  •  Assist medical students with communication with their clinical team, oral exams, small groups, and the final examination.
  • Oversee the distribution of evaluations, and any additional feedback given within the required reporting systems.
  • Assist external rotators from outside institutions who are rotating within the Department of Surgery. Including VSLO management and end of rotation evaluations as requested.
  • Assist with PA student rotations and scheduling assignments, evaluations, and grades.

Education and Academic Reporting

  • Responsible for development and submission of all Academic Activity reports within the Core Surgery rotation.
  • Distributing and collecting documentation from outside departments for accurate AAR reporting.
  • Prepare and enter grade reports on behalf of the Clerkship Director to the College of Medicine.
  • Assist in pulling any additional data as requested by the COM support staff and leadership. 

  Administrative Tasks

  • Keep up to date orientation manuals, syllabi, and evaluations for both the MS3 and MS4 rotations.
  • Customer service – responding to professional emails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries.
  • Maintain the inventory of skills lab supplies and request budget approval for purchasing when needed.
  • Works closely with the Simulation Center to set up spaces for all medical student labs.
  • Complete verifications of past graduates of the Department of Surgery.
  • Additional Education Office duties as assigned by Assistant Director of Education & Training Programs.
Expected Salary:

 $17 - $22 per hour  

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent and three years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree
