Job Description: |
Plan and supervise work of assigned personnel of the lock shop, which is responsible for repair, maintenance, installation, and issuance of hardware and cutting of keys. Perform duties of locksmith as required. Prioritize and coordinates requests for services, estimates labor hours, and assign work to appropriate mechanics within the shop. Expedites emergency requests. Document and record the existing keying philosophy and scheme onto hard copies and computer K600N Keystone database. Document all additions, deletions, and modification and maintain records for all Key-Watcher key management systems. Interface with customers on keying issues, such as adding more keys, changing keying combinations, deletion of keys, returning of key, etc.
Perform and coordinate the workload and task assignments of the Key Shop using AiM software to ensure and improve the efficiency in response time, service, and customer satisfaction. Interpret hardware schedules, plans, blueprints, specification, work orders, etc; review plans for new constructions in compliance with hardware requirements of the college/university, approving for standards compliance (doors and hardware). Inspect buildings periodically for hardware and doors that need replacement. .
Maintain and/or recommend inventory, handle special orders, purchase supplies as needed, and evaluate contracts and work of outside services as assigned. Administer and maintain the master keying systems and related security for college/university and update/maintain policies and standards related to such security. and/or procure materials and supplies to maintain an efficient inventory and to Maintain budget and track expenses generated by lock shop operations. support the operations of the key shop.
Assists in maintaining a continuous training program for locksmith staff advising them of new developments/techniques in their field. Assist with employee interviews, hiring, and job performance evaluations. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
Valid Class E Florida Driver’s License is Required
Criminal Background Check is Required

7:00 am to 4:00 pm; Monday through Friday

Preferred: |
Five years related locksmith work and supervisory experience or a combination of education and experience. Experience in an institutional research setting.
Knowledge of principles and techniques of keying and all areas of locksmith’s work.
Skill in the use of tools and equipment associated with the trade.
Ability to supervise people; determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments, communicate effectively; prepare reports and correspondence. Proficient in computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook E-Mail.
