Greenhouse and field infrastructure maintenance. Routine monitoring of the greenhouse facility, environmental controls and water supply. Maintaining the greenhouse and field hygiene with the segregated waste streams dictated by CREC. Assist with installing and maintaining irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water delivery. Assist team members with ongoing plot maintenance. This includes tasks like tagging plants, harvesting fruit, and assisting with controlled pollinations greenhouse and field infrastructure maintenance. Prepare planting sites, plant trees, and provide ongoing care, including watering, pruning, fertilizing, and applying pesticides as needed, following established protocols. Plant trees and maintain experimental sites, including travel to sites as needed
Collect phenotypic information on tree growth, fruit yield, fruit quality, and other relevant traits according to research protocols. This includes careful recording and organization of information.
Operate and maintain basic agricultural equipment, such as tractors, sprayers, mowers, and hand tools, ensuring their proper functioning and safe usage. Applies fertilizer, herbicide, and other pesticides.
Purchases laboratory and field supplies and equipment. Responsible for purchasing required laboratory supplies using UF P-Card.

Preferred: |
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Associates degree in an appropriate area such as horticultural science, plant science, soil science, biology, or a closely related field.
Basic laboratory and field skills for conducting research work.
Willingness to work long hours in the field in sub-tropical Florida environment.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
A good team player with a strong work ethic and good communication skills.
Knowledge of plant propagation, experience in plant management in the field.
