Job Description:

The UF Health Cancer Center is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span 14 of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.

As an HR Specialist with the UF Health Cancer Center, you will join our Office of Human Resources and work alongside our Assistant Director to manage the UFHCC faculty orientation and professional development programs as well as to coordinate HR data management, reporting, and analysis for the UFHCC. While this is an entry-level position, it remains a critical, highly visible role on our HR team and is essential to executing our overall faculty support and development strategy. 

This is position is ideal for candidates with some experience and/or training in basic HR practice or higher education administration who want to explore a career in higher education HR. A complete job description will be provided to candidates selected for interview. 

Expected Salary:

$22.50 - $23.75, hourly

This is a TEAMS position, and is eligible for a suite of excellent benefits, retirement options, and paid leave including:

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, or similar discipline. 

  • Some experience and/or training in basic HR practice, preferably in higher education, ideal but not required.
  • Some experience and/or exposure to training and/or content development, preference given to experience in healthcare and/or research, particularly in higher education, ideal but not required.

  • Some education and/or exposure to basic learning science concepts, adult learning theory, information design, and/or multimedia development. 

Qualities: 

  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be effective independently, maintain appropriate discretion, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills. 

  • Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods, and information. 

  • Proven sense of professional ethics and conduct, understanding and effectively using and applying Emotional Intelligence strategies and skills. 

  • Demonstrated forward-thinking mentality with the ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong desire to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and critical staff, internally and externally, through various communication mediums and venues. 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Ability to successfully work independently, interact professionally, and utilize effective writing and organizational skills. 

  • Strong professional judgment, with the capacity and ability to carefully consider and act in line with professional standards/ethics, the mission of the organization, and supervisor instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate program issues and to respond appropriately in a timely manner. 

  • Proficient time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, anticipate and identify conflicts, and meet deadlines with excellent attention to detail. 

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across functions to optimize performance and drive projects to completion. 

  • Basic instructional skillset with a focus on adult learning design and delivery rooted in andrological theory and practice, ideal but not required.

  • Basic skills in storyboard design, storytelling, and/or information design to support the learning and/or instructional process, ideal but not required.

  • Capacity and/or basic skills with common course authoring tools (e.g. Camtasia, Articulate 360, etc.). 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
