Job Description:

Coordination for the Center PI
This position coordinates the affairs of the Center PI and is responsible for the following tasks: the incumbent, coordination or liaison with the Grants Staff and others at the institutions involved with the Center, supporting the preparation of reports and assisting with managing ancillary contracts, grants, and research gift accounts through the center.

Serving as a liaison between the Department and College’s Payroll and Personnel Offices at all institutions associated with the Center to assure student and post-doc staffing and support for consultants and other project participants.

Coordinating meetings for the Center PI and the other members of the center, including faculty and students, as well as site visits and other center-wide activities.

The coordinator also works with the Center PI to coordinate and oversee all aspects of workshops and conferences developed through the Frontiers initiative, and assist with the coordination of outreach and broadening participation efforts, such as bootcamps.

Administration for the Center PI
The coordinator provides administration and coordination of the operations of the NSF Center with the lead PI and other investigators, to include duties such as helping to manage budgets and reports and collaborating with the PI in broadening participation and affiliated center activities.

The coordinator is also responsible for collection, editorial support, administration of research results (reports, presentations, posters, etc.) from all projects, and dissemination of reports to designated parties.

Coordinates with departmental and college staff regarding their support on various issues, such as sponsored research, travel, purchasing, and facilities maintenance. Maintains knowledge and compliance with university policies in sponsored research, purchasing, travel, employment appointments, etc.

Center Communication and Outreach
The coordinator supports the linkage for the Center with stakeholders such as advisory boards, government contacts, industry representatives, academic researchers, and community leaders  by helping to ensure that all appropriate forms and documents required for sponsored research activities or collaborative projects are properly requested, completed, routed, delivered, etc. Communicates with and be in regular contact with industry and government partners, to share announcements and updates on research progress notice or about upcoming workshops and tutorials, disseminate data collected from research experiments, and conduct surveys, as well as outreach materials and policy documents aimed at both stakeholders and the general public.

As requested by and under the guidance of the Center PI, the coordinator oversees the performance of maintenance, upgrades, and updates to the Frontiers website. The coordinator is responsible for preparing the material associated with workshops and conferences, including, agendas, workshops digests, tri-folds, etc.

Assists with creation of graphic assets and development of templates for newsletters, briefs, and material for both the website and printed materials for dissemination to the public.

Where authority has been delegated, the coordinator prepares correspondence on behalf of the Center PI, some of which may be confidential.

Other administrative support

The coordinator will assist the Center PI with other research projects including those supported by agencies such as NSF, DARPA, and ONR. These will include assisting with coordinating schedules and reports and assisting investigators as required.

Miscellaneous
Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Center PI and other investigators to include assisting with new initiatives such as including new workshops, technical events, recruitment efforts, broadening participation and outreach activities, etc.

Expected Salary:

$63,000-$75,000; commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of graphic tools such as Adobe Creative Suite
  • Website development and administration knowledge
  • Experience with development of marketing and communication materials in multiple formats

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple administrative tasks
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate work assignments
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures
