The Quality and Patient Safety initiative (QPSi) at the College of Medicine is seeking a Research Data Scientist III to lead advanced data science efforts focused on enhancing healthcare quality, operations, and patient safety through artificial intelligence (AI) and statistical modeling. This pivotal role will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including clinicians, data scientists, and engineers—to extract clinically relevant insights, develop peer-reviewed research, and disseminate innovations that position QPSi as a national leader in healthcare quality improvement.
The successful candidate will contribute to strategic dissemination plans, ensuring high-quality, consistent communication of complex healthcare and AI concepts across platforms. Reporting to the Associate Director of the AI/QI Program and working closely with the Academy and Outreach Program, this role is instrumental in advancing QPSi’s mission and expanding its impact.
About This Role:
Scientific Content Creation and Innovation
- Develop research projects stemming from activities within the QPSi AI/QI Program.
- Originate and prepare content for publication or performance, such as abstracts, scripts, essays, articles, reports, and presentations.
- Edit and proofread materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to editorial standards.
- Ensure all materials are consistent with policy and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist in preparing and managing grant submissions, coordinating team activities, organizing materials, and revising grant proposals as needed.
- Through collaboration with research coordination team, ensure compliance with all federal, state, UF, and IRB requirements pertaining to the ethical conduct of research.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including leadership, faculty, and staff, to understand and effectively communicate complex healthcare and AI concepts throughout the content creation process.
- Contribute to the development of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations for conferences, meetings, and peer-reviewed journals.
Data Science
- Perform statistical analysis to generate tabular and graphical information necessary for scientific publications and grant submissions.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers in AI/QI Program and with clinical teams to execute subanalysis as requested by journal or grant reviewers.
- Contribute to enhanced scientific rigor of AI/QI Program’s deliverables by sharing lessons learned from scientific conferences and peer reviewers, and by implementing the latest practices.
- Understand state-of-the-art AI methodologies deployed by AI/QI team to enable accurate content creation.
Communication and Dissemination
- Establish a collaborative partnership with the UF Health Director of Communications to enhance QPSi's visibility and messaging, aligning with marketing goals.
- Communicate technical concepts and analytical findings clearly to non-technical audiences, including leadership and frontline stakeholders.
- Support the development of visualizations, dashboards, and presentation materials that effectively convey quality improvement insights.
- Contribute to the broader dissemination of quality improvement findings, including public presentations and educational materials, in alignment with QPSi’s communication strategy.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive dissemination plan to relay scientific content to the public via multiple avenues and utilize the QPSi project management system to track and analyze the execution of the dissemination plan.
- Utilize metrics to assess the effectiveness of different dissemination strategies and make data-driven adjustments.
- Adhere to all data privacy, security, and compliance protocols while managing sensitive patient and institutional data
